My Memory:My husband and I's favorite memories are always the ones marked by our visits to the Surfsand Resort.
We have celebrated birthdays, and anniversary trips, and every time we are surprised by the accomodating staff and handsome surroundings. (We've even become fan's of the artist that supplied the paintings, so we can feel that we're at the Surfsand, even at home!)
Our favorite of these memories was our engagement on December 30th, 2005. The staff at the Surfsand went above and beyond to assist my husband in coordinating the most beautiful day.
First I was told by my husband that we'd be driving to, and spending the day in my favorite town, Cannon Beach. So we packed up the car, our beagle "Rover" included, and headed for the coast.
Cannon Beach is very dear to my heart, mainly because it's where my grandparents used to vacation, and I have lovely black and white photos of them lying on beach towels near Haystack Rock when they were in their courtship after WWII.
When we arrived in Cannon Beach we walked around the shops enjoying the Holiday decorations and sights.
Beaux then told me he wanted to take a look at the Cannon Beach Day Spa, and before I knew it I was being dropped off for a luxurious afternoon at the spa.
When I was ready to leave Beaux was nowhere to be found. The staff provided me with a long stem red rose, my car keys, and a tiffany's bag with a key card to the Surfsand resort and a room number with it. There was a note that said, "Meet me at our favorite place, your ocean resort awaits."
I drove from the spa (later only to find out that Beaux and Rover had walked all the way from the Cannon Beach Day Spa to the Surfsand Resort in the rain so that he could leave the car!) and arrived at the Surfsand resort.
When I got to the door of the hotel room there were Rose Petals at my feet, and when I opened it the whole room was filled with candles, and rose petals covering the floor. The fire was lit, and Tony Bennett's "Isn't it Romantic" was playing. I couldn't believe my eyes. Everything was so beautiful.
I went to the table by the window, which displayed the most breathtaking view of the ocean, and it too was filled with Rose Petals, except these ones were silk, and each one had the words "I love you" written on them. Also on the table was a large bouquet of roses with a note that stated, “Each I love you that you see is for every day that I have loved you, every day that we have been together."
And when I turned around I saw my husband down on one knee with a tiffany's ring box asking me to marry him. (Of coarse, I said yes!)
It was the happiest day of my life!
To make a dream of a day even better the Surfsand had coordinated our engagement dinner at the Wayfarer restaurant, where more flowers were waiting, and of coarse champagne in our room. Even "Rover" our beagle was included with a wonderful treat basket and a large bed. He felt like a king.
Truly words can't begin to describe the gratitude we owe the Surfsand for making such a special day for my husbdand and I. Thank you, for all that you've done for us.
Many memories have been shared at the Surfsand Resort, making it not just a vacation destination, but place in our hearts and our lives.

My Memory: My son had stayed here and encouraged us to try the Surfsand and see for ourselves what a magnificent place this is to stay. Bob and I found each other later in life I was 59 and he was 58. We have shared the last 4 ½ years of our life enjoying each day of our life and loving each other more and more. He is the man that I should have found and fallen in love with 40 years ago. We feel so very blessed to have found each other and had the opportunity to fall in love on last time in our lives. We know we will spend the rest of our lives together going on these adventures.
Every place we go together is another breathtaking memory to add to our memory book of our life together. We started going to Cannon Beach for Thanksgiving in 2005 so this was our 5th time to go to Cannon Beach for Thanksgiving. The Surfsand is a remarkable place and the staff is the most accommodating and enjoyable group of people to be around. They treat you so special. You wouldn’t know that there are hundreds of people there because they make you feel like you are the only ones they are taking care of at the time. The rooms are elegant, and well done. They have taken care of every detail that you will need during your stay. The staff at the front desk is exceptional. I called on the phone to ask about a certain room and Rob was so very helpful. I asked his opinion over two different rooms and he was more than willing to give me his expert opinion--well done Rob the room was everything you said it was plus more. Abe was great when we checked out and just made you want to come back again. As Bob and I were leaving I said to him, \"this is a place that we will return to for sure and soon.\" The Surfsand is peaceful, relaxing, tranquil, and the views are marvelous. It is a comfortable and a easy walk down the beach or the sidewalk to town. I can’t wait to come back to the Surfsand.It was romantic and fun. It is the # 1 Resort on the Oregon Coast. There is not one thing that needs to be changed. We had the most beautiful Thanksgiving to add to our memory book for Nov 2009!!

My Memory: We want to share our memorable experience at the Surfsand Dog Show at the Beach on October 17, 2009. As travelers, event planners and a couple with 40 years of animal welfare experience, the Surfsand Resort and their staff made a lifetime impression with us.
We’ve wanted to visit Cannon Beach for the Surfsand Dog Show on the Beach for the past three years. Our family consists of two humans and two dogs. Our dogs are intertwined into our work and play, and we love fun dog shows that benefit homeless animals.
We were one of the firsts to register our dogs – Maty #5 and Mesa #6, in the lobby of the Surfsand the night before the event. Immediately, Jerry Martin greeted us and made us feel welcome. Upon arrival at the Dog Show (not) on the Beach due to a storm, we found Jerry behind the microphone making everyone feel welcome. We participate in dog events across the nation, and were impressed at the level of Surfsand Resort's sponsorship, planning and running of the event.
We had fun demonstrating the abilities of our disabled dog, Maty, a 3-legged dog, who happened to be on Animal Planet Dogs 101 that night! She inspired many as she won 1st place in the high jump, and her surfer dog costume brought smiles and a blue ribbon. Maty and Mesa came home with 5 ribbons each, but most of all, we gained new memories and a goal.
After experiencing the Surfsand Resort’s hospitality at the Dog Show we can’t wait to experience a stay at the Surfsand Resort. We’ll start saving today.
The Surfsand Resort’s level of professionalism, enthusiasm and charitable contribution we witnessed at The Dog Show on the Beach said more to us than any advertisement, brochure, website or travel site comment. We experienced their incredible service and dog friendliness first hand, and it was not even at the resort! That truly says a lot.
Despite the stormy weather, we had a howling good time!

My Memory: My husband, myself and our 3 boys stayed for our first time at the Surfsand for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We booked our room on-line and I called the hotel direct to add the bonfire and s’mores on the beach to our package. When I called the lady at the desk told me that the room we had reserved was a very small room with just a bed and we would be uncomfortable with our kids in this room because it was too small for all of us. She looked to see what she could do to get us a different room. She came back to me and told me that she could upgrade us to another room for $20 more a night since they were not booked solid that particular night we were staying.
When we got to the hotel, our children were greeted with buckets and shovels with snacks, we got to our room and OH MY!! It had a full ocean view and was amazing!! The boys had little blue robes for them laid out which they thought was great! We were then greeted by a knock at the door and salt water taffy and a hand written note welcoming us to the hotel. It just got better! When we had our bonfire it started to rain on the beach and the worker who was overseeing the bonfires ran right out to us and set up umbrellas over each of us and gave us blankets - talk about service!
That night when we got back to the room, we had a knock at the door delivering a surprise to the kids - they do this each night. My husband and I decided we wanted to stay an extra night, so we called the front desk and they said they were booked for the next night but they could put me on a wish list for any cancellations. The next morning, our phone rang and the people who were to be in our room had just cancelled so we were able to stay an extra night.
This day greeted us with a set up cabana on the beach and toy buckets for the kids to play with. The buckets had shovels, kites, sand toys, stunt kites... water for us, blankets, you name it! Later that afternoon the hotel had a big ice cream social l- now I am talking big waffle cones with local ice cream. The kids loved this! That night after swimming in the indoor pool, the front desk delivered a movie and popcorn to our room. We have traveled all over and have stayed at some wonderful hotels, but this is the BEST when it comes to service and hospitality and really catering to their guests!! We are going to make this an annual trip from now on for our anniversary.

My Memory: Your hotel is one of our favorite places to stay in the world! My husband took me there when we first met. No doubt that is one of the reasons I married him!
Last time we stayed there I told my husband when we stay at this wonderful place on the ocean, I always feel so alive!
